  74. description of the package and its features, along with instructions for
  75. its installation.  Quite detailed documentation is included in the
  76. package, but it is in archived form, and is more easily read after
  77. installation.

  88. for up to 30 days, without charge (see MANUAL.DOC for more details). If

  90. period, you are required to pay for the program (see REGISTER.DOC for
  91. more details).  Any fee you may have paid to others (disk vendors,
  92. dealers, etc.) to obtain this evaluation version was a fee for their

  112. ===== Installation =====================================
  113.  
  114. The installation procedure for TrackEquip is quite simple.  The package
  115. includes a program, "INSTALL.EXE", which automates the entire process.
  116. You will need about 1.5mb of available disk space on the hard drive on
  117. which you plan to install TrackEquip.
  118.  
  119. The exact steps you need to take will depend on how you received
  120. TrackEquip.
  121.  
  122.  
  123. INSTALLING FROM DISKETTES
  124.  
  125. To install from diskette(s), you need to perform the following steps.
  126.  
  127.    o  Place TrackEquip distribution diskette in the appropriate
  128.       diskette drive.
  129.  
  130.    o  Execute the "INSTALL.EXE" program on the distribution diskette.
  131.       For example, if the distribution diskette is on drive A:, type
  132.       the MS-DOS command, "a:install".
  133.  
  134.    o  Follow the instructions presented by the installation program. You
  135.       will have a chance to approve installation before any changes are
  136.       actually made to the contents of your hard drive.  The program will
  137.       ask you for a destination directory, and will copy the TrackEquip
  138.       files to that directory. It may need to make changes to your
  139.       autoexec.bat and/or config.sys files, however no changes are made
  140.       unless you specifically agree to this.

  143. INSTALLING FROM A HARD DRIVE
  144.  
  145. If you downloaded TrackEquip from a BBS (or received it in the form of
  146. archive files from some other source), you will need to perform the
  147. following steps.
  148.  
  149.    o  Extract the contents of the archive file(s) in a temporary
  150.       directory on your hard drive.  The procedure for doing this
  151.       varies, depending on the form in which you received the package.
  152.       In all likelihood, the fact that you are reading this text means
  153.       that you already have the necessary tools and knowledge to
  154.       perform this step.  If not, you should be able to obtain
  155.       directions for this from the same source from which you received
  156.       the package.
  157.  
  158.    o  Execute the "INSTALL.EXE" program which you have extracted.  For
  159.       example, if the temporary directory into which you have extracted
  160.       the TrackEquip package is C:\TEMPDIR, you would execute the MS-DOS
  161.       command, "c:\tempdir\install".
  162.  
  163.    o  Follow the instructions presented by the installation program.
  164.       You will have a chance to approve installation before any changes
  165.       are actually made to the contents of your hard drive.  The
  166.       program will ask you for a destination directory, and will copy
  167.       the TrackEquip files to that directory. It may need to
  168.       make changes to your autoexec.bat and/or config.sys files, however
  169.       no changes are made unless you specifically agree to this.

  171. When you're satisfied that the installation was successful, you should
  172. delete the temporary directory FROM which you installed TrackEquip
  173. (C:\TEMPDIR, in the above discussion), including all its contents.
  174.

  176. IMPORTANT
  177.  
  178. You must set the following environmental variable in your AUTOEXEC.BAT
  179. file, or you must enter it from the command line prior to running the
  180. program:
  181.  
  182.              SET CLIPPER= //F:45
  183.  
  184. This command MUST be set in order for TrackEquip to run. The installation
  185. utility will automatically add the line to your AUTOEXEC.BAT file if you
  186. want it to, or you can answer NO at the install prompt and do it
  187. manually.
  188.  
  189. You will also need to check the FILES and BUFFERS settings in your
  190. CONFIG.SYS file (the install program will check this also and give you
  191. the opportunity to modify it, if you want to). If you don't already have
  192. at least 49 FILES and 20 BUFFERS, please change these lines accordingly:

  196.  
  197. The installation program will make the necessary adjustments to your
  198. CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT files if you want it to. If you don't then
  199. you will need to make the changes manually.

  202. effect

  207. Once you've complete the installation, you should consult the document
  208. (MANUAL.DOC) which has been installed.  In particular, read at least the
  209. 'Essential Information' chapter of the file "MANUAL.DOC".  That document
  210. will tell you how to invoke the program, and will give you other
  211. information you need to properly evaluate TrackEquip.  We hope you enjoy
